Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

In general, the privacy of all communications between a client and a psychologist or psychotherapist is protected by law, and a provider can only release information about our work to others with your written authorization.

Exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which a provider is required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, the provider must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
  • If a client intends to harm herself, the provider will make every effort to enlist her cooperation in ensuring her safety. If she does not cooperate, the provider must and will take further measures without her permission that are provided by law in order to ensure her safety.

Insurance

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
  • How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Does my plan require a prior authorization number before being seen? If so, please provide that to our front office staff before your initial visit.
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Sliding Fee Discount

It is the mission of Wilson Psychological Associates to provide the highest quality of mental healthcare to our patients. Reduced fee services may be available to those with financial hardship. We commit to serve all patients and offer discounted fees to those who qualify, but in accordance with contracted insurance state and local regulations.

Sliding Fee Discount Applications will only be considered for individuals who meet family size and annual income guidelines. Sliding Fee Discount Applications may not be used to cover contracted insurance deductibles, copays, or coinsurance. Discounts are offered based on family size and annual income. Please complete the following information and return to the front desk to determine if you or members of your family are eligible for a discount.

The discount will apply to all services received at this clinic except any Forensic Work (for legal purposes rather than clinical/mental health). This form must be completed every 12 months or if your financial situation changes. NOTE: Copies of tax returns, pay stubs, or other information verifying income may be required before a discount is approved.

We do not deny services based on a person’s race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender identity, or  veteran status.

Payment

Cash, check and all major credit cards accepted for payment.

Cancellation Policy

If you do not attend your scheduled appointment, and you have not notified us twenty-four hours prior to your appointment (or, by noon on Friday for Monday appointments), you will be required to pay the full cost of the session or evaluation time as you have reserved it.  Please note, you will never be charged for breaking an appointment in the case of a true emergency beyond your control.
