Shania, born in Coral Springs, Florida, has felt a passion for the psychological field since her adolescent years. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Oklahoma Wesleyan University. While at OKWU, she obtained the Outstanding Student in Psychology Award.
She then continued her education at Oral Roberts University in the Master’s degree program for Professional Counseling, again graduating at the top of her class with High Honors. While at ORU, Shania focused her training with male offenders within the criminal justice system. In addition to her service at WPA, she continues to work with treatment for this underserved population.
Shania works under the direct supervision of Dr. Spence Wilson to provide support during the psychological evaluation process. She has extensive training in test, measurements, and psychological assessment. She is board approved by the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners to collect comprehensive and accurate data that provides reliable results for our clients.
Through her clinical experience thus far, Shania has found a passion for treating underserved and generally misunderstood populations, and finds it a privilege to walk alongside clients that hold alternative pasts that may differ from others. Clients who meet with Shania can expect a therapeutic relationship that involves humility, authenticity, unconditional positive regard, and accountability.
Shania believes in a holistic, person-centered approach to treatment, that considers the interconnectedness of all realms of a person, as well as each individual’s specific needs and preferences. Clients who fully engage in the treatment process can expect to foster self-connectedness, self-awareness, and intentionality in their lives and relationships.
Shania’s goal for all clients is to establish long-lasting personal growth and change, so that they can have foundational tools that will accumulate and maintain self-efficacy and autonomy long after therapy is completed; therefore, even when dealing with acute, imminent issues, Shania’s approach always considers the long-term progress and growth of the individual.
Overall, Shania utilizes an integrative approach that is tailored based on the client’s needs. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps bring balance to therapeutic work in that both a positive relationship and structure and interventions are highlighted.
